Anthony’s journey began in Offinso, Ghana, where he was born. After immigrating to the UK to join his family as a minor, he became the eldest of four siblings. Throughout his life, the church has been Anthony’s foundation, evident in his joyful dancing during worship at the Bethel Society Methodist Church in Ghana. By his mid-teens, Anthony’s love for worship and fellowship had taken root, and he began hosting bible study at home. His unwavering commitment to his faith and passion for spreading the word of God continues to inspire those around him.
Growing up, Anthony has come to realize that life is full of vicissitudes. Despite facing hardships like economic struggles, segregation, and injustice, he has never given up. Instead, he has always chosen to rise above the challenges and strive for a better future. As evidence of this, in the early part of his studies, Anthony received some life-altering news, which as a result enabled him to receive a greater understanding of the Holy Spirit and how He can manifest in our lives. Anthony had to learn experientially what it meant to trust totally in God’s plan, in spite of his own turmoil and suffering.
Anthony started his training as a preacher shortly after completing his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. This is an honor he holds dear to his heart. As part of his formation, Anthony also completed a one-year leadership course towards the end of his training.
Anthony’s unwavering passion for social justice is rooted in his own experiences of facing inequality. His courageous spirit and determination to stand up against injustice are truly inspiring. Even in the face of adversity, Anthony’s unwavering boldness serves as a beacon of hope for those who face discrimination.
Finally, Anthony is a true Renaissance man, with a wide array of hobbies and interests that keep him engaged and fulfilled. His passion for football and unwavering loyalty to Manchester United are just one aspect of his multifaceted personality. When he’s not cheering on his favorite team, you can find him communing with nature, tending to his garden, or enjoying a peaceful stroll through the park. But before any of these activities, Anthony always takes time for his daily worship session, sermon, and cup of green tea. And when it comes to the kitchen, Anthony truly shines – he loves experimenting with different dishes and is a skilled cook who never stops honing his craft.
Anthony is a fully accredited local preacher in the Methodist Central Hall Westminster Circuit. He is passionate about social action, politics, church unity, spiritual revival, and creative ways of worship.
Throughout his journey with the Methodist Church, Anthony has held various leadership roles, including serving on the young adults’ leadership team, local church, and circuit council member. His passion for serving others led him to become a member of the Methodist Church London Synod in 2014 and a representative of the London District at the Methodist Conference, the governing body of the church.
As part of his training, for six years, Anthony preached at several different churches within the London District. It was then that Anthony identified and further developed his gift in delivering impactful sermons, public speaking, and flair for leadership. Over the years, Anthony has had the honor to preach, give speeches, and take part in broadcasts at various places in the UK and internationally.
Anthony was member of the Church Action for Tax Justice Management Committee and the Methodist Central Hall Westminster Leadership Team until 2021. In 2022, he was elected as a Vice-President Designate, a testament to his unwavering commitment to inspiring and uplifting others. Anthony holds the record as the youngest Vice-President of the Methodist Conference UK 2022/23 and the second ethnic minority to hold this office. During his term of office, Anthony championed the theme of revival as demonstrated in his conference address entitled, ‘Revival: The Methodist Dream.’
Currently, he is still a local preacher and serves as the Convenor/Lead of the London District Social Responsibility Commission. In addition to his ministerial work, Anthony is employed in the work and health sector, where he utilizes his pastoral and leadership skills to assist people who are facing physical and/or mental health challenges in reintegrating back into education, employment, or training.
Anthony is a remarkable leader who has inspired many with his visionary ideas and exceptional public speaking skills. He believes that true leadership involves empowering others to discover and develop their unique gifts, as well as standing in solidarity with those who are marginalized while maintaining a spirit of humility.
